Imam Khomeini: I, a humble servant of God, was contemplating for some time, to select forty hadith from among the ahadith of the members of the Household of the Prophet (peace be upon them) from the authentic books of the companions, and scholars, and was trying to compile them with an appropriate explanation of each of them that can be applied to the general conditions of the people.

An exposition on Forty Hadith by Imam Khomeini, the original work in Persian, published several times under the title “Arba’in, ya chihil hadith” was written by Imam al-Khomeini nearly five decades ago and was completed in the month of Muharram 1358

Imam Khomeini used to stress that the whole world is not the ultimate goal before the Prophets. Rather, it is a path to be followed to reach the destinations which is the high grade of humanity.

Imam believed that the Western societies had been plunged into social and moral decline because they ignored spirituality and human values. Imam used to say: Do not think that the westerners have progressed. They have advanced materially, but they have no spirituality. Islam and other divine schools of thought seek to perfect and construct true human beings, but the West has nothing to do with this matter. The West has discovered natural resources and natural power while using them against human beings. The West uses these powers to destroy cities, countries and even humanity.

The Doyen of martyr Imam Hussein (PBUH) staged an uprising with some of his companions and destroyed the very foundations of that wicked person's monarchy.

Imam wanted the Muslim world to confront the imperial monopoly and work together and change balance of power in the interests of the Muslim nations.

According to Imam, the deep love for worldly affairs and close association with material world could lead to an all-out collapse of societies and moral decline of humans.

Imam used to maintain that one of duties and mission of the parliament should be to eliminate deprivations of the people and solve the problems facing the society.

The Messenger of God’s sayings were a manifestation of such kind of ethics which he made known as the purpose of his mission.
