Soon after the martyrdom of our brethren in the Hoveyzeh region, due to the religious duty of conveying the news to the Imam, we paid a visit to him. While presenting to him a report of the operations in the city of Abadan, Hoveyzeh and the western front, I mentioned that however, in the course of these military operations, a number of our comrades-in-arms had been martyred. I added that in the Hoveyzeh area of operations, we had lost some of our best soldiers including fellow combatant Hossein Alamalhoda whom I had known from the days before the Revolution. He was a sincere and pious individual and worked extremely hard for the cause of Islam and passed many a sleepless night. From the point of view of Islamic jurisprudence and philosophy too, he had extensive knowledge and indeed was a great asset for the province of Khuzestan and a solid pillar for promotion of religion in that province. When I mentioned these qualities, the Imam began to shed tears and weep. At this point I was disgusted with myself for having upset the Imam. In that state of sorrow, the Imam raised his hands in prayer and implored: “O God, acknowledge the sacrifice of our martyrs!”
I was so deeply affected by the Imam’s expression that it remains always etched in my memory and I shall never forget it.
