At the last moment before the Imam’s intended departure from this world, he asked us not to bring his grandson Ali to see him. It aroused our curiosity and we wanted to figure out the reason. We understood that since at that final instant he had been delivered from all earthy ties and attachments and considering the fact that he was deeply attached to his grandson Ali and that he was the sole attachment that remained for him in his final moment, for this reason he had asked us not to bring Ali into his presence. This communion with God and severance of ties from other than Him was instituted in his spirit right from his youth. The essence of all the youth attributes of the Imam had collected in his soul in old age. Thus, just after the surgical operation and before regaining consciousness, he began to murmur the invocation ‘Allah-o-Akbar’ (God is Greater).
